What you'll be doing
The Project Accountant is responsible for managing financial aspects of assigned projects, ensuring accuracy in cost tracking, budgeting, billing, and reporting. This role acts as a liaison between the finance and project management teams, ensuring compliance with financial policies and the timely completion of accounting tasks related to projects. Monitor and report on financial performance of individual projects from initiation to closeout.

Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.

Review and process project-related invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor pay applications.

Track labor hours, materials, and overhead costs against budgets.

Ensure timely and accurate billing to clients in accordance with contract terms.

Collaborate with project managers to analyze cost variances and forecast future expenses.

Support month-end and year-end close processes related to project accounting.

Reconcile project-related general ledger accounts.

Ensure compliance with accounting policies, contracts, and applicable regulations.

Assist with audits, client reporting, and documentation requests.

What skills & experience you'll bring to us

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

2–4 years of experience in accounting or project accounting, preferably in a project-driven environment (e.g., construction, engineering, consulting)

Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Deltek, Sage, Viewpoint, or other ERP systems)

Strong Excel skills and familiarity with project management tools

Understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities

Effective communication and interpersonal skills
