| The Retail & Showroom Merchandiser is responsible for improving the appearance, organization, customer experience, and sales performance of USPHB retail and showroom locations, including RF Fager and Ihrie Supply. This role combines visual merchandising, graphic design, product presentation, signage development, and sales analysis. The position will identify what needs merchandised while also creating the tools, graphics, signage, layouts, and standards needed to execute consistently across multiple locations. Location: Camp Hill, PA preferred, with regular travel to USPHB retail and showroom locations. |
Key Responsibilities
- Develop attractive, organized, and sales-focused merchandising plans for retail and showroom locations.
- Create and maintain displays for plumbing, HVAC, kitchen, bath, and related product categories.
- Improve product placement, traffic flow, signage, labeling, and overall customer presentation.
- Ensure displays are clean, current, easy to shop, and aligned with company brand standards.
- Support new product launches, vendor displays, promotional areas, seasonal updates, showroom refreshes, and branch resets.
- Visit locations regularly to evaluate presentation, identify needs, support execution, and help train teams on display standards.
Design, Signage & Merchandising Tools
- Design and create signage, shelf labels, product callouts, display graphics, promotional materials, layout guides, and merchandising templates.
- Use Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, to create professional retail and showroom materials.
- Develop planograms, display standards, and merchandising guides that help branches and showrooms execute consistently.
- Partner with marketing, sales, product management, branch, counter, and showroom teams on promotions, events, campaigns, and vendor-supported initiatives.
- Ensure all creative materials support the appropriate brand identity for USPHB, RF Fager Supply, and related company brands.
Sales Data & Product Placement
- Review sales data to guide product placement, display space, and merchandising priorities.
- Analyze best sellers, slow-moving products, category performance, margin opportunities, customer buying trends, seasonality, and vendor priorities.
- Recommend product placement and promotional changes that support sales growth, turns, gross margin, and add-on purchases.
- Track the impact of merchandising changes and recommend future improvements using practical, data-supported decision making.
Ideal Candidate
Creative, detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable working across multiple locations. This person has a strong eye for design and product presentation, but also uses sales data to make smart merchandising decisions. They can take an idea, product category, or showroom challenge and turn it into a clear visual plan with the tools, signage, and materials needed for strong execution.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience in retail merchandising, showroom merchandising, visual display, graphic design, interior design, marketing, or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is required.
- Ability to create professional signage, display materials, templates, merchandising guides, and customer-facing retail graphics.
- Strong eye for layout, product presentation, customer flow, color, balance, and brand consistency.
- Ability to read and interpret sales data to support product placement and merchandising recommendations.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong communication skills, ability to manage multiple priorities, and willingness to travel regularly to USPHB retail and showroom locations.
- Experience in plumbing, HVAC, kitchen and bath, building materials, wholesale distribution, or home improvement is preferred.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Degree or coursework in graphic design, visual merchandising, interior design, marketing, business, or a related field is preferred.
- Prior experience in retail, showroom, merchandising, graphic design, or product presentation preferred; kitchen, bath, plumbing, HVAC, or building products experience is a plus.
