Orbus Visual Communications has a job opening for an experienced Wood Shop Manager. Orbus is one of the largest tradeshow exhibit supply and manufacturing companies in the US and headquartered in Woodridge, IL.

Position Responsibilities

• Manage all day-to-day operations of the Wood Shop
• Identify and eliminate wasteful practices and improve efficiency
• Training in the use of machines and wood fabrication techniques
• Conduct employee meetings and ensure that staff adhere to safety and standard operating procedures
• Oversee all employees, machines and the shop to ensure safety
• Monitor employee’s production performance and procedures
• Daily auditing of staff in completing production quotas
• Ensure the quality of products
• Address safety concerns, repair and maintenance issues
• Report recommendations for improvements
• Ensure all deadlines are met or exceeded
• Resolve employees or customers problems
• Interview woodshop applicants
• Conducts annual performance reviews for all Wood Working staff
• Regulates staff levels to match current and upcoming workloads through planning and scheduling
• Troubleshooting and recommendations for improvement regarding the project build are required
• Generate Corrective actions when necessary for repeating issues
• Works directly with Project Managers (PM’s) as well as Wood Detailers to ensure that projects are completed successfully, and all issues have been resolved
• Work with inventory Control and conduct monthly cycle counts for items in the department

Requirements

• Five plus years of experience in the modern kitchen cabinets production industry
• Two (2) years prior supervisory experience required
• Extensive knowledge in modern cabinets build, designing and production
• Extensive knowledge in high pressure laminate applications
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
