About the Role
As a senior member of the Project Services Team, the Senior Onboarding Engineer is responsible for leading the technical onboarding strategy and implementation for new NetCov clients. This role owns the design, execution, and continuous improvement of NetCov’s onboarding standards and technical frameworks.
The Senior Onboarding Engineer provides architectural guidance, leads complex migrations and integrations, and serves as the technical authority for onboarding engagements across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, Microsoft 365).This role works closely with project management, security, and support teams to ensure every new client enters NetCov’s managed services environment securely, efficiently, and according to company standards.
This position is suited for someone who enjoys structured processes, client interaction, and problem-solving — and who wants to play a pivotal role in building long-term client success from day one.
Accountabilities
- Lead the full technical onboarding process for new clients, ensuring a smooth transition into NetCov’s managed services environment.
- Serve as the technical lead for complex onboarding engagements and high-value client implementations.
- Define and maintain NetCov’s onboarding technical standards, architectures, and deployment frameworks.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to onboarding engineers, system specialists, and junior team members.
- Review and approve onboarding plans, architecture decisions, and technical documentation.
- Lead complex migrations including hybrid identity, tenant consolidation, network redesign, and cloud transformation.
- Identify technical risks in client environments and recommend remediation strategies aligned with security best practices.
- Work with leadership to improve onboarding automation, tooling, and repeatable deployment frameworks.
- Assist in scoping and technical discovery during the sales or pre-onboarding phase when required.
- Drive continuous improvement of NetCov’s onboarding methodology, documentation templates, and quality standards.
- Perform comprehensive onboarding assessments, including infrastructure reviews, security evaluations, and technology baseline.
- Plan, implement, and support onboarding activities such as:
- Server migrations
- Network standardization
- Firewall and switch deployment
- Microsoft 365 / Azure configuration
- Remote access / VPN setup
- Documentation development
- Work directly with clients and third-party vendors to coordinate technology transitions, integrations, and handoffs.
- Create, standardize, and maintain thorough documentation of client environments, ensuring accuracy and completeness before transition to ongoing support teams.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact throughout onboarding, providing guidance, updates, and clear communication to clients and internal teams.
- Act as an escalation point for onboarding-specific technical issues that arise for System Specialists or other non-engineering resources.
- Collaborate with team members to continuously refine and improve onboarding processes, tools, and templates.
- Support cross-department initiatives that require onboarding expertise or high-level technical input.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Experience:5–8years of hands-on experience in systems, networking, or cloud engineering, preferably within an MSP or multi-client environment.
- Architecture: Ability to design scalable infrastructure solutions across hybrid, cloud, and on-prem environments.
- Security & Compliance: Strong understanding of security frameworks, regulatory environments, and best practices for financial institutions.
- Automation: Experience improving deployment efficiency through scripting, automation, and standardized infrastructure templates.
- SystemsAdministration: Proficiency with Windows Server, Active Directory, identity management, and related systems.
- Networking: Skilled in configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless technologies (Fortinet, Meraki, etc.).
- Familiarity with MSP tools, cybersecurity principles.
- Process Orientation: Strong ability to follow, refine, and optimize structured onboarding workflows and standards.
- Communication:Clear, professional communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving:Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues calmly and systematically.
- Documentation:Ability to produce standardized, detailed technical documentation for internal and client use.
- Certifications:One associate- or mid-level certification (ex: Network+, Security+, Azure Administrator, M365 Admin, CCNA, Fortinet, ITIL) or completion of a relevant certification within 90 days of hire. An IT or Computer Science degree may substitute this requirement.

- Experience with credit unions or regulated industries
- Knowledge of ACET/FFIEC
