UA Enrollment Specialist (Troy, MI)
Summary - Serve as a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Enrollment Specialist responsible for accurately processing member and dependent enrollments, maintaining up to date eligibility records and ensuring all documentation meets plan requirements. Play an active role in enhancing member experience through efficient processing and timely communication. Occasional phone support may be needed during peak call volume months.
Regularly visit Union Hall for in-person member assistance, as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Enrollment & Eligibility Processing (Primary)
  • Accurately process new member enrollments, dependent additions, and updates to member records.
  • Collect and verify required documentation for eligibility events (e.g., marriage, birth, divorce).
  • Post self-payments and COBRA payments.
  • Maintain up-to-date member records in the system by processing changes and completing month end eligibility reports.
  • Ensure timely distribution of ID cards and new member packets.
  • Support eligibility reinstatement, termination, and changes by reviewing system-generated reports and taking appropriate action.
  • Timely and accurately review and approve weekly vendor files.
  • Timely and accurately review and process vendor discrepancy reports.
  • Monitor data quality and resolve discrepancies in eligibility and enrollment records.
  • Prepare and distribute enrollment packages and other member communication materials.
  • Assist with maintaining documentation and records to ensure compliance with plan rules and procedures.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
Member Support & Communication (as needed)
  • Provide outstanding member service via phone, email, and in-person interactions, focusing on eligibility and enrollment-related inquiries.
  • Serve as the primary BeneSys contact for members and regularly visit the Union Hall to offer on-site support and answer questions.
  • Clearly explain eligibility rules, enrollment requirements, and benefit access using language that is easy for members to understand.
  • Collaborate with the Retirement Services Department to direct members to appropriate contacts for pension and retirement-related questions.
  • Offer phone support during peak periods or as needed.
Required Experience and Qualifications
  • Experience in a high-volume customer service environment, preferably within healthcare or benefits administration.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex benefit information.
  • Empathy and active listening skills to understand member concerns and provide effective support.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail is a MUST.
  • Proficiency in data entry and comfort working in multiple systems.
  • Passion for helping others and making a positive impact on member experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with health plan documents, including Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs).
  • Knowledge of union-based benefit plans and Taft-Hartley administration.
  • Experience working with CRM or eligibility systems.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.

This role is critical in ensuring that members receive timely and accurate enrollment support, improving their experience with the Fund Office. By serving as both a system expert and a compassionate listener - especially through in-person support, you will help members feel confident in navigating their benefits and maintain trust in BeneSys.
Work Environment
  • Fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Requires the ability to multitask and work independently or as part of a team
  • Regular local travel to the Union Hall as needed for in-person member support
Work Schedule - Full time. Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm. Requires in-office days but also offers at-home flexibility after 90 days.

Pay
The hourly rate is $25.00. Actual rate dependent on location, skills, education, experience and other business factors.
