| Membership Services Clerk (Columbia, MD) Summary – The Membership Services Clerk will primarily be working on Provider phone calls and Provider portal inquiries. This is a collective bargaining union position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to
Qualifications - Must be able to multi-task and be detail oriented. Ability to assist members and clients professionally. Must be able to exhibit compassion and patience for the members with diverse backgrounds. Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret the plan rules as outlined in the Summary Plan Descriptions (SPD), user manuals for on-line services, department rules and procedures manual and COBRA Compliance manual. Must be able to speak clearly & effectively and to explain to members, dependents, providers and union officials the rules of the plan. Must have superior written and verbal communication skills. Mathematical Skills - Ability to apply concepts of basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Reasoning Ability - Representative must be analytical, careful attention to what a caller is asking for and then use good judgment. Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Physical Demands - Occasional lifting of paperwork and printer paper. Work Environment - Fast paced department, can be noisy, pressured and stressful. Phone calls are continuous and often unpleasant. Must be able to maintain composure with difficult callers. Must be flexible and willing to pitch in and work together as a team and help other departments within the company. Work Schedule: Full time. Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. Required in office (no at-home days). Competitive Benefits and Compensation Package
Pay The current starting rate for this position is $21.68 per hour. This is a union position. The pay rate for this position is determined by the collective bargaining agreement and may be dependent on experience, skills, education and other business factors.
