Technical Project Manager (Troy, MI) Summary The role of Technical Project Manager works in the IT Project Management Department and is responsible for the governance of projects executed within the department. Though this role will focus on management of projects across all technology disciplines, an emphasis for this role will be placed on software development projects leveraging SDLC processes with an emphasis on Agile methodologies. Primary responsibilities as Technical Project Manager focus on coordinating and overseeing execution of technical workloads across the IT Organization. This role oversees project execution from conception through delivery, acting as a liaison between technical and operational teams, as well as senior management. Primary functions will involve establishing and implementing best practices, recommending and implementing systems to support project management, as well as defining processes and procedures necessary to ensure proper management and success. Applicant must live in Metro Detroit area as in-office days in Troy office are required. Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to - Active participant and leader with the IT Project Management Department; this role will lead or participate in, backlog grooming and sprint planning activities, daily standups, prioritization meetings, coordinating/managing QA & UAT processes, and other activities necessary to support BeneSys project operations.
- Defining project objectives, project scope, roles & responsibilities, as well as architecting right-sized project plans to ensure proper governance & transparency to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Aligning resource requirements, managing resource availability both internally and externally, tracking projects through their lifecycle.
- Preparing project plans including identifying key project milestones, workstreams and activities; experience building out and managing software development projects will be an essential duty.
- Tracking projects, communicating project status to project teams and key stakeholders, including delivery of regular reporting.
- Identifying and mitigating potential risks, managing and adjusting for changes, schedule and/or budget.
- Collaborate with peers, team members, and stakeholders to drive project success.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis and problem-solving skills including the ability to understand new information domains.
- Self-motivated and directed, ability to prioritize workloads and multi-task. Must be able to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical users.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in project management, with at least 2+ years working in SDLC environments; experience managing both technical and non-technical projects preferred
- Expert experience with Project Management tools like Azure DevOps, Jira preferred, other tools include Asana, Trello, MS Project, or other PM platforms considered
- Expert experience with Excel and other data and analytical tools, technical and software-development project management a plus
- Healthcare and/or financial services experience a plus
- Education or experience in computer science/information systems or other technology experience/disciplines preferred
Education/Certifications/ Licenses/Registrations - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- CAPM or equivalent required, PMP/PgMP preferred
Work Schedule - Full-time. Monday – Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm. Requires in-office days but also offers at-home flexibility after 90 days. Competitive Benefits and Compensation Package - 12 paid holidays
