Position Overview:
We are seeking an Insurance Verification Specialist to join our dedicated team. Under general supervision, you will be responsible for providing internal personnel with accurate insurance benefit information. You will play a key role in ensuring the timely verification of insurance benefits and financial clearance, which directly impacts the reimbursement process from payers for both scheduled and unscheduled patient accounts. Your ability to communicate effectively with insurance companies and clients is essential, focusing on resolutions, insurance carrier guidelines, company policies, research, and collection efforts.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Communicates timely with the internal revenue cycle team and collaborates effectively with the center staff to ensure financial clearance of the patient’s account prior to scheduled or unscheduled services.
- Performs financial clearance of patient accounts by verifying insurance eligibility and benefits and ensuring all notifications and authorizations are completed within the required timeframe.
- Interprets complex payer coverage information including, but not limited to, network participation status with provider, limited plan coverage and inactive benefits.
- Documents systems according to the Insurance Verification guidelines to assure accurate and timely reimbursement.
- Completes appropriate payor forms related to notification and authorization.
- Calculates accurate patient financial responsibility.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word/Excel
- Perform any other duties assigned
Requirements:
- 2 years of healthcare or customer service experience preferred.
- Requires good listening, interpersonal and communication skills, and professional, pleasant and respectful telephone etiquette.
- Must have the ability to consistently meet performance standards of production, accuracy, completeness, and quality.
- Ability to understand and adhere to payer guidelines by plan and service type.
